We found a turtle! (October 29)

We found a turtle on our way to somewhere.  It reminded me to slow down and enjoy the simple things. Like forgetting your to do list and playing with a box turtle.

Sleeping

You're sleeping In bed with me again tonight. I secretly love it.  Cherish it too.

You've rolled over and are holding my arm.  Smashed as close to me as you can get.

Thankful praises rising to our Heavenly Father.

It's been a lovely day. I'll eventually catch up.

Love this

Texting Daddy Monday night as I held you.

"Putting Will to sleep at night is more than I ever dreamed of as a mama!  It's amazing. Listening to his grunts and sighs.  And his little body wiggling to find its spot where comfort is found for sleep to come. His tiny fingers rubbing over my neck as he soothes himself with quiet reassurances that mama is here.  And those precious coos just before he drifts off to sleep.  Don't forget the lingering smell of grilled chicken nuggets that come from behind those perfect pouty baby boy lips."

Texting Daddy

Text to your Daddy today. He's in DC this week.

"I'm feeling like the most blessed mama right now.  I've got my arms full of warm cuddly baby.  And it's 7 o'clock.  13 hours ago we rolled out of bed and have hung out together on this grand day!  Can't imagine getting home at 5 just to put him to bed an hour or two later. Thank you hubbles!!!"

Sentimental me

As your first birthday grows nearer and nearer, I become more and more sentimental and wishing time would just slow down.

I want to hold you longer.

Savor the moments.  All of them.

Memorize, once again, all the many folds in your still baby skin, your ten fingers (that now point and clap, hold crayons and splash in the bath, high five and put food in your mouth) and still tiny toes.

I want to keep you in my arms and on my lap as long as I can when you drift off to sleep at night.

All is want is to kiss those chubby cheeks again and again. Over and over.

I want to bottle your laughter and listen to it on days that need cheer.

You're growing up, my firstborn.  And I so enjoy watching you do it. You're amazing. You are.

It's been the greatest joy of mine and your Daddy's life to watch you grow and flourish.  We love you!  And we are thankful to God for entrusting us with your care. It's the best and biggest role I've ever played. I love being your mama.

There will be more writing to come my little man.  You know me. ;)

Fall festival in Opelika (Oct 28)

Opelika Fall Festival!

You loved your balloon!

You got a toolbox kit from Home Depot.

You and Daddy watched the kids ride the mechanical bull.

You were fascinated.

Getting ready!  Choo choo!

Time to ride the train!

Daddy sees your tiger tail for the first time.

Time to fish!

Getting ready to spin!!!

You, your ducks, and your Daddy. You're one happy boy!

You love balloons.  A lot.

And so...when the remainder of the 20 tickets purchased were still in your Daddy's pocket as we got ready to leave, we decided to spend the rest on some fun balloons!
