Too neat

Thought this was cute.

True? Maybe.

A little longer

I got you down for a nap earlier.  You're good about napping in your bed, but today I'm holding you for a little longer while you snooze.  I'm ok with that.  Totally.

Painting in the bathroom

As you've seen from previous posts this week (that's right, I'm on a posting kick), it's been cold and rainy.  And so we haven't been to the park or played outdoors in the afternoons after our morning playgroups etc.

So, we have been creative and have actually been having a blast just doing our thing around the house. It's been fabulous really!  Just to slow down and enjoy time together at home.  Play with your toys, dance, sing, chase, laugh, race, tickle, give slobbery smooches, and paint.

Boy, did you paint a particularly beautiful one this morning!!!!!  It's gorgeous! And it's soon or have a prominent spot on our kitchen wall.  I love the colors and the sweet little prints your hands, fingers, and arms made on the canvas.  It's awesome!

And what's even better is you enjoy it!  You paint and splat and go at your project from all angles. And you look up and say, "Moah!" (More).
And I squirt another bit of bright paint into your table and you go to work.  Today we used toilet paper rolls to help us in our creativity.  Boom boom boom we said as we practiced plopping the roll in the paint and traipsing it across the canvas.  Kinda cool until the toilet paper that was still stuck to the roll became stuck to your little fingers.  But you didn't mind. Just said, "Stuck." And held your finger up for me to pull the paper off so you could keep working.

Here you are in the bath!  You were covered in paint.  You liked taking a lock of it every once in awhile.  Yucky stuff!

You are such a precious gift, buddy!

Look at that Will original!  Work of art!

I'll have to post a picture of this painting hanging in our kitchen when we get it up.

Love you!

Trucks, a concert, and trees

It was another fun day!

(I'm trying to be more diligent in my writing.)

This morning we went back to the museum to see the truck exhibit.  Our third visit.  So wonderful!  They have a concert every Thursday too.  So we were able to enjoy that as well.  Delightful!

Look at you sprawled out across the truck table!

After your nap, we drove up the road. As in one door down (and yes, I did put you in and out of your carseat to drive 100 yards).  And watched the trucks/crane trim the neighbors trees. It was cool.  You ate cantalope and  played with the buttons on my car while we watch the crew work in the cold-hence the reason we drive up the road.

You can see the truck, crane, and bobcat in this picture.

It doesn't seem to me that they're finished.  So maybe we can watch tomorrow too.

You're a bright ray of warm sun...

Even on a cold and dreary day.

Today was such fun!  And we didn't even have a single commitment.  Nothing planned.  Nowhere to be.  It's a rarity.

This morning; let's start there.

A trip to Dunkin Donuts with a 99 cent coupon for a decaf coffee.  We took Grits and Lulu too. Then home for a warm breakfast. Still in our pjs.

You chose oatmeal.  Yes, at 14 months you have your preferences.  So oatmeal and a slice of bologna it was.

You helped me unload the dishwasher.  You handed me plates etc and then put things away in your cabinet!  Amazed!  You're so smart!

At breakfast we decided to go to the library.  We checked out two books to help us with our new duck endeavor (check back March 20), played in kids' area, and you colored a duck picture.

Then we headed home.  And just in time. It was starting to drizzle.

Home and lunch.
You had a scrambled egg  with broccoli and cheese and grapes.

Then nap time.  By this time the rain is coming down steadily.  And we are singing all sorts of rain songs.  You're favorite I think is:
If all of the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops oh what a rain that would be. I'd stand outside with my mouth open wide singing ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah.

Nap time. But last night (and the one before) you wet your bed. And so today at nap time both sheets were dirty. So it was to bed on a sheetless mattress. So it lasted about an hour once I put you in your bed. Which just meant I got some cuddle time while listening to the rainfall.

Then we were up an hour later.  Time to make a rain stick. All things rain.
You're so cute. You love to stand and look out the window and watch the rain splatter on the concrete.

Here you are with your rain stick looking out the window.

You were really into putting each piece of corn (kernel) into the bottle. Each piece of pasta.  Each grain of rice.  It was great fun!

Then we played around the house.

You sat on and climbed all over Grits.

We built a fort. You and Grits enjoyed playing under it. So cute.

You played with your vacuum. Vac, as you call it.

Boy! I loved playing with you today!  We chased and chased around the house. Couldn't have been more fun!

We danced and sang.  It was such a beautiful day!

Dada was home soon after.  He brought home a yummy meal from Montgomery. One of our fave Chinese places there. So special. So thoughtful. I'm so thankful for those gestures of love.

You and Dada always have fun when he comes home. Even if it is doing laundry.

This never gets old...

I could hold and rock you for days.  I used to.  I love these cuddly moments.  Thankful you still fall asleep with mama.
I love you!

A (quick) visit and (quick) trip

Yesterday (February 18th), Papaw came by for a brief visit. He was in town for a basketball game.  He stopped by to see you on his way out of town.

He's proud of you!  We were glad to get in a visit with him.

After they left, we packed up and quickly hit the road.  An impromptu trip to South Carolina with Dada!

It was a 4 and 1/2 hour drive.  We stopped once at chick fil a.  We played on their indoor playground and then got back on the road.

When we arrived at the hotel you and I stretched our legs and Dada unloaded the car.

You're all bundled up and climbing the hotel stairs.  It was so cold out that the lobby of the hotel began to take on the weather outside.  Frigid.

We were super excited because there was an indoor heated pool.  Though in 30 degree weather, the heated water felt pretty cold.

Still, a swim with the family is always fun!
